Shah Ehsan Habib received his Masters in sociology from the University of Dhaka and gained his Ph.D. from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 2002. He also completed Graduate Certificate in Public Health and Communicable Diseases from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He has been working as a Professor in the Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He specializes in the sociology of health and illness, research methodology, drug education and prevention, harm reduction, AIDS Education and Prevention for key populations, adolescent and reproductive health including Knowledge of developing and implementing evaluations of public health programs.
Over the past few years, he worked as an International Consultant (Team Leader) on many projects, putting his expertise in survey design and methodology, program evaluation and monitoring, data analysis, project management, and capacity building and training. Over the decade, he has designed surveys, and undertaken formative and impact evaluations in Bangladesh and Nepal for DFID, UNAIDS, UNICEF, Care Bangladesh, and FPAB. His long experience in survey methodology has led him to design behavioral and socio-economic surveys, and key population surveys in Bangladesh for a wide range of sectors including health, nutrition, reproductive age, women empowerment, drug education, and HIV/AIDS, including other communicable diseases.
