In the backdrop of three momentous commemorations, namely the birth centenary of the father of our nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Centenary celebration of the University of Dhaka, and Golden Jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh, the Department of Criminology (University of Dhaka) is preparing to host the "3rd International Conference on Criminology and Forensic Science in Global South" from 8-9 August, 2021. This international conference is being held in collaboration with Ryakoku University, Japan and the National Forensic Sciences University, India.
In the interim of postmodernism, multiple types of transgression is being practiced in all different countries. To analyze Justice in a new way and to suppress criminal activities, the significance of forensic science must be cogitated. With that objective in mind, the 3rd International Conference organized by the Department of Criminology will mainly highlight the nature of crime in the Global South or the Third World, the judiciary and the efficacy of forensic science in the suppression of crime by various domestic and foreign scholars, researchers and analysts.
The keynote speaker of the conference will be Prof. Dr. Kerry Carrington (School of Justice, Queensland University of Technology), Professor Dr. Zia Rahman (Founding Chairman, Department of Criminology, University of Dhaka), Dr. J.M. Vyas (Vice Chancellor, National Forensic Sciences University, India) and Professor Shin-Ichi-ISHIZUKA (Director, Criminal Research Centre, Ryakoku University.
Khandaker Farzana Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Criminology, University of Dhaka will preside over the 3rd International Conference opening. Besides, Dr. A.S.M. Maksud Kamal (Professor and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Education, University of Dhaka) has consented to be the Chief Guest and Dr. Sadeka Halim (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Dhaka) will be the guest of honor. In the closing session Dr. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed (Treasurer, University of Dhaka) will grace the event as Chief Guest. Professor Dr. S.O. Junare (Dean, School of Doctoral and Research and School of Management Studies, National Forensic Sciences University, India) as Guest of Honor and Md. Monirul Islam (Additional Inspector General and Head of Special Branch, Bangladesh Police) as Special Guest will attend the concluding ceremony of the conference.
