During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interests especially the possibilities of further expansion of ongoing Korean Language Program at DU. The possibilities of establishment of Korean Language Department at DU were also discussed in the meeting. They stressed the need for enhancing language skills of DU students for better employment in Korea.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal sought technical support and cooperation from Korean envoy to develop vocational education in Bangladesh for making skilled human resources. He said, the friendly ties between Bangladesh and Korea have been prevailing for a long time. Korea has contributed a lot to overall socio-economic development of Bangladesh. This bilateral relationship will be further strengthened in the days to come, he hoped. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized on undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs on environment, climate change and blue economy among Dhaka University and different universities in Korea.
Later, South Korean Ambassador Mr. Park Young-sik delivered a public lecture on ‘Contemporary Korea: History, Democracy, Economy, Peace and Security’ at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium of Dhaka University. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal presided over the program. Treasurer of DU Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Deans of different faculties, Directors of different institutes, Chairmen of different departments and huge number of students were present on this occasion. Director of the Office of International Affairs of DU Prof. Dr. Shamsad Mortuza conducted the program.
The Korean Ambassador shared knowledge regarding overall development of South Korea and expressed his willingness to undertake joint collaborative programs between Bangladesh and Korea to develop various sectors in Bangladesh including RMG, trade and business ones. He stressed the need for strengthening relationship between industry and academia to make technology based industry in Bangladesh.
DU VC thanked the Korean envoy for delivering an excellent public lecture. He urged the students to take lessons from Korea for making Bangladesh a prosperous country.
