Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bangladesh Mr. Mansour Chavoshi called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal today December 11, 2023 at the latter’s office of the university. He was accompanied by Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi, Third Secretary of the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka.

Chairman of DU Persian Language and Literature Department Dr. Md. Mumit Al Rashid, Prof. Dr. K M Saiful Islam Khan, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim and Director of DU Public Relations Office Mahmood Alam were present on this occasion. 

During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interests and exchanged views regarding various issues including the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs among the University of Dhaka and different universities in Iran. They stressed the need for exchange of more Visiting Professor, faculties, researchers and students among DU and Iranian universities. They agreed in principle to boost academic and cultural cooperation and collaboration among DU and leading universities in Iran.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal said, an excellent historical, social, educational and cultural relations and ties have been prevailing between Bangladesh and Iran for a long time. These friendly ties between the two countries will be further strengthened through holding webinar, workshop and seminar on different academic fields in the days to come. Exchange of teachers, researchers and students among DU and Iranian Universities will be arranged to enhance our mutual cooperation and collaboration, DU VC hoped.

Iranian Ambassador Mr. Mansour Chavoshi invited DU Vice-Chancellor to pay a visit to Iran at the beginning of next year. He expressed his willingness to award scholarships to DU meritorious students and appoint more Iranian Visiting Professors at Dhaka University.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal thanked the Iranian Ambassador for his visit to and keen interest in undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs with DU.
