Certificate giving ceremony of three-month long Certificate Course on ‘Climate Change and Public Health’ was held today January 30, 2024 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU). Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal distributed certificates among the participants as chief guest. The Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience (DSCR) of DU and Climate Change and Health Promotion Unit (CCHPU) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare jointly organized the event in cooperation with UNFPA and UKaid.
Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman presided over the function while president of Public Health Association of Bangladesh Prof. Dr. Shah Monir Hossain and Leader of Human Capital Team of FCDO Ms. Fahmida Shabnam addressed it as special guests.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal urged the researchers and policy makers to work together for making Bangladesh a climate-resilient country. He stressed the need for strengthening collaboration among industry, academia, ministry and different research organizations to reduce the vulnerabilities due to climate change.
