A special lecture on ‘China’s Carbon Market: Development, Evaluation and Ways Forward’ was held today 07 May 2024 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU). Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal was present as chief guest on this occasion. Centre for China Studies of DU organized this program.
Director of the China Academy of Energy, Environmental and Industrial Economics of Tianjin University, China Prof. Dr. Zhong Zhang Xiang delivered the special lecture. Prof. Dr. Shamsad Mortuza of DU English Department conducted the event.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal urged the leaders of developed countries to take immediate measures to reduce Carbon emission across the world. China has responsibilities to play vital role in this regard, he added. The Vice-Chancellor stressed the need for undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs as well as sharing knowledge on climate change and environment to make sustainable solution of these burning issues.
Prof Dr. Zhong Zhang Xiang in his lecture highlighted different China’s policies for reducing Carbon emission as well as taking measures for implementation of these policies.
