A four-day long national workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Fundamentals for Brand Designing’ has begun today June 2, 2024 at Osman Jamal auditorium of the Faculty of Fine Art of Dhaka University (DU). DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal inaugurated this workshop as chief guest. Faculty of Fine Art of Dhaka University, Department of Patent, Design and Trademarks of the Ministry of Industries and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) have jointly organized this event with the assistance of Japan Patent Office (JPO).
Presided over by Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art Prof. Nisar Hossain the inaugural function was addressed by Director of Division of Asia Pacific of WIPO Mr. Andrew Michael Ong, DG of Foreign Ministry Faiyaz Murshid Kazi and Director of Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks of the Ministry of Industries Dr. Kaisir Mohammad Moinul Hasan as special guests.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal said, we are living in an era of knowledge economy, innovation, new concept and new product. He stressed the need for giving more attention to fundamental research and innovation. He further said, DU faculties, researchers and students need to be equipped with knowledge of laws and policies of intellectual property rights to protect our innovation and idea.
It may be mentioned that faculties, alumni and students of DU Faculty of Fine Art have been participating in this workshop.
