Bioprotein Templated Nanostructures | Nitrogen-enriched spherical carbon nanomaterials have received intense interest due to their potential applications in catalysis, energy applications, CO2 and CH4 adsorption, and more. The enrichment of nitrogen in carbon nanomaterials can enhance various physical properties of the materials such as surface polarity, current density etc. The successful use of this technique solely depends on the ability to obtain colloidal spheres with tightly controlled sizes and surface properties. We systemically analyze these materials with a set of suitable model systems to develop facile and versatile method to synthesize nitrogen-enriched carbon-like nanoparticles with tailored functional properties from 3D, 2D structural protein templates. Natural Fiber based Composite | Environmental concerns have resulted in a renewed interest in agro-based materials, and therefore issues such as recyclability and environmental safety are becoming increasingly important for the introduction of new materials and products. Nowadays, there is a growing interest in the use of agro-fibers (jute, hemp, rice husk, abaca wheat straw, coir, kenaf, flax etc) as reinforcing components for thermoplastics, because they are more economical than the synthetic fibers. Composites are versatile and convenient in diverse application such as automotive and aeronaut industry, constructional materials, civil and military applications and many more. Design of 3D DNA Nanostructures by Lithography | We developed a universal two-step procedure to fabricate mixed ssDNA/OEG-AT monolayers and patterns on gold substrates (OEG-AT: oligo(ethylene glycol) substituted alkanethiol). The procedure is based on promoted exchange reaction and relies on commercially available compounds—making it easily accessible—and is highly flexible in terms of the composition of the mixed monolayers, as well as the size and shape of the DNA patterns that can be formed on the OEG-AT background. Nature Inspired Advance Materials for Soft Tissue Engineering | Biopolymer based scaffolds or hydrogels provides support, niche environment, and degrades in parallel with bone/ soft tissue regeneration. These Hydrogel scaffolds are considered as an important class of biodegradable materials, since they can closely mimic the structure and some of the properties of extracellular matrix of host tissues. Nano-biomaterials for Wound Healing Applications | The research aim to development of next-generation scaffolds and smart materials that can be used for rapid wound healing process. The search of a suitable biocompatible, biodegradable and anti-microbial highly efficient nano-biomaterial to minimize scar formation, while accelerating the wound healing process is crucial. Naturally available biomaterials are required to exhibit certain characteristics to be considered suitable for use as wound dressings. A large number of natural resource materials, such as collagen, gelatin, alginate, nanocellulose and chitin/chitosan are under investigation to be used as scaffolds for tissue engineering application. Salient features of these materials are explored in an attempt to provide a desired niche for robust wound healing process. |

Electrospinning of Renewable Biopolymers-based composites | The electrospinning of various biopolymers and their derivatives in room temperature for functional applications have been a interesting area of research in recent time. We investigate the effect of copolymer addition in electrospinning. Additionally, co-solvent, which significantly decreased the surface charge, surface tension, viscosity and entanglement density of the network and increased the conductivity of the spinning dope, contributed to a continuous jet will be adapted. The research outcomes will provide simple and practical methods of fabricating biopolymers based nanofibres mats / unwoven mats through the electrospinning of their viscous solutions.
