Monolayers and LB film | We prepare different types of monolayers such as Gibbs monolayers, Langmuir monolayers and characterize these monolayers by different techniques such as Langmuir film balance, Brewster angle microscopy, PMFTIR etc. | |
Environmental Chemistry: Photochemistry & Surface Chemistry | Considerable amount wastewaters are discharged from dyeing and finishing of fabrics in the textile industries every year. Wastewaters generated from the textile industry contain large amount of azo dyes which owing to their non-biodegradability, toxicity and carcinogenic nature constitute a major threat to the ecosystem. Our main goal is to find out a suitable method for treatment of the wastewater containing dyes. We use two methodology, which are photodegradation and adsorption. We prepare suitable photocatalysts including nano-particles and nano-composites. The light sources used are UV-light, artificial visible light and solar light. On the other hand, wastewater treatment is carried out through adsorption technology by preparing suitable low cost adsorbents such as citosan, coconut coir dust etc. |
