Sharmin Akhtar has been teaching at the Department of History since 2007. She has achieved her PhD degree from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in maritime trade relations between ancient Bengal and Southeast Asia. Earlier she accomplished her bachelor's degree and master's in History from the University of Dhaka. Ancient History and Culture, archaeology and the Liberation War history of Bangladesh are the areas of her interest. At the department, Sharmin has been teaching the Social, Cultural and Economic History of Ancient Bengal, Medieval Indian Architecture, and the History of the Indian Subcontinent. She published several articles in the Web of Science (ISI) and SCOPUS-indexed journals alongside many other peer-reviewed journal articles and books.Read less
