Dr. Nahid Sharmin completed her M.Pharm (Thesis) in 2006 from the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and B.Pharm from the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2005 of University of Dhaka. She pursued her PhD (2014-2018) from the University of Bradford of United Kingdom after being awarded the highly prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship (2014). She worked at the interface of Pharmacology and Molecular Biology and her research was focused on the resolution of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a life threatening rare cardiovascular disorder. She worked in the Department of Pharmacy of some reputed private universities of Dhaka as a lecturer. After that, she joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, University of Dhaka (DU) as a lecturer on 2011. She was promoted as an assistant professor in 2015 and in 2019, she took the position of an associate professor in the same Department. Her research interests lie in designing formulation and novel delivery systems for drugs, studying BMP, TGF-β and p38 MAPK signalling pathways, understanding the molecular mechanism of PAH and identifying novel therapeutic options of the same and developing analytical methods for identification and quantification of drugs. She is the author or co-author of several articles in renowned national and international scientific journals. She has participated in many national and international conferences and was awarded. She is a member of some recognised organisations including Registered member of Pharmacy Council Bangladesh, American Thoracic Society, USA, Biochemical Society, UK, Commonwealth Scholarship Commission Alumni, UK, University of Bradford Alumni Association, UK, North of England Cell Biology Research Group Meeting, UK, Dhaka University Pharmacy Alumni Association. Presently she is performing a number of academic and administrative responsibilities including teaching undergraduate and graduate students, supervision of their projects and thesis, playing roles in various committees.
