Around 80 percent of the Bangladeshi refrigerator market are possessed with our local manufacturers, revealed a survey conducted by Marketing Watch Bangladesh (MWB), a non-profit organization deals with real-time data and market scenario.
The freeze industry in Bangladesh has seen rapid growth since the last two decades and the tendency of purchasing refrigerators has increased at a large scale in rural areas in comparison with urban cities for affordable pricing, said one of the co-founders of MWB Dr Md Nazmul Hossain. The result of the survey was released in a press briefing at Dhaka University Marketing department's conference room on Monday.
Of the 80 percent, Walton holds a lion's share of 66 percent while Marcel, Jamuna, Vision, Minister, and other local manufacturers occupied the rest percentage, according to their survey. The field survey was conducted on 1,778 random freeze users on a basis of face-to-face interviews, while 662 consumers participated in online surveys.
Besides, a total of 10 focus group discussions and expert opinions were also included in the procedure.The local brands are offering modern technologies at a reasonable price point including IOT availability, automatic heating system, power-efficient inverter technology, real-time temperature display, holiday mood, turbo mood, super-cool mood, and so on.
Thus, they are attracting consumers, speakers said.They also found out the likings and complaints of consumers and made some recommendations for the local freeze manufacturers in their 119-page long survey result.The research team consisted of Marketing department chairman Professor Mizanur Rahman, Associate Professor Md Nazmul Hossain, Associate Professor Rafiuddin Ahmed, and researcher Sakhawat Hossain.
