It’s my pleasure to welcome all of you to the Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka. This department was established in 1979 under the leadership of the founder Chairman late Professor Dr. Anwarul Azim Chowdhury with a mission to provide quality education and research in Microbiology. The department initially started with MS programs with a limited number of students. After 10 years, the department started its long expected Bachelor programs in 1989. Currently, the department is offering four years Bachelor of Science degree (BS), one year Master of Science (MS), M.phil and Ph.D. degrees. The department has been providing quality education and research. Our graduates are highly recruited with excellent placement in educational and research institutions, government agencies and private industry. The Department of Microbiology has collaborations with different national and international Universities, Industries and Research organizations. We welcome you again to be part of this challenging and exciting environment as you seek opportunities to learn and grow as a future Microbiologists.
