Fariha Karim, a student from the MIS-13 batch at the University of Dhaka, earned Third Position at the Academic Excellence Research Summit 2024, held as part of the Industry Partnership Alignment workshop by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC-DU).
Fariha’s thesis, titled "Identifying the Factors Affecting Cyberlacking that Influence Academic Performance: The Perspective of Dhaka University Students", was recognized for its insightful exploration of the effects of cyberlacking on students’ academic performance. Her research focused on identifying the key factors contributing to academic underperformance due to excessive internet distractions among Dhaka University students, shedding light on a growing issue in modern education.
Competing against students from nine departments within the Business Studies faculty, Fariha’s work stood out for its thorough analysis and relevance to contemporary academic challenges. Her remarkable achievement highlights her dedication to research and her commitment to addressing critical issues affecting students today.
Fariha’s research was supervised by Professor Dr. Mohammad Anisur Rahman and mentored by Professor Dr. Rabeya Sultana, both of whom played pivotal roles in guiding and supporting her throughout the research process.
This recognition at the Academic Excellence Research Summit 2024 is a testament to Fariha’s academic prowess and her potential as a future leader in research.
