Ms Sadia Sharmin is a Joint Secretary to the Government and the Project Director of the project named ‘Strengthening the Capacity of Officers and Staff of Planning Division and Commission’ and ‘Special Research Programme for the Government of Bangladesh’ under Planning Division, Ministry of Planning. As a career civil servant, she has held various roles in both field administration and at the Secretariat. Prior to her appointment as the Project Director she served as Deputy Secretary at the Finance Division, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Senior Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She worked in Lien in the project of Skills for Employment Investment Programme under Finance Division funded by ADB where she played a pivotal role in managing the performance of various skills development of private sector organizations funded by GoB. She also served as a First Secretary at Bangladesh Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.
Ms Sadia belongs to Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Cadre. She began her journey in Civil Service in 2001. She pursued her post-graduation in International Relations from University of Dhaka and also from University of Tsukuba under JDS scholarship (Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource development Scholarship). She achieved Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Business Studies, Department of Management, University of Dhaka.
Her primary areas of interest revolve around skills development, IR 4.0, investment climate improvement, governing in digital age, Blue economy, Delta plan and data-driven policymaking. Notably, she has authored four research articles in various reputable national and international journals.
