Rainbow Film Society and the Department of Women and Gender Studies have organized 8th Dhaka International Conference on "Women in Cinema" at the Samson Lounge of Dhaka Club Limited (on 16 & 17 January). The conference was inaugurated by Mr. K.M. Khalid, State Minister of Cultural Affairs of the Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Charles Whiteley, Head of Delegation, EU Delegation to Bangladesh, Dr. Umme Busra Fateha Sultana, Chair, Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka and Ms. Meral Melika Duran, EU strategies from Paris, France. World renowned film producers, directors and film critics were present in this two daylong conference and discussed how to improve the standard and content of women based cinema. The conference was a success attended by many distinguished guests and students from the department of Women and Gender Studies.
