On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, the BBA 29th batch's orientation program was held at the Department of Finance, University of Dhaka, to officially welcome the fresh faces. Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka - Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Moyeen adorned the program as the main guest. The distinguished guest of that event was Mr. M Sabbir Hossain, DMD & COO of BRAC Bank Ltd. Akteruddin Mahmood, Head of HR, BRAC Bank Ltd was the guest of honor on that event. The current chairman of the department - Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury chaired the session. The BBA program director and Professor - Shabnaz Amin was also present at the event. The event was jointly hosted by Faysal Sheikh, Jarraf Rahman Rasha, Shanin Haque, Sifat Jahan Mourita, Safim Hasan and Jamia Akter who are sophomores from BBA 28th Batch of Department of Finance.
The program started with a mesmerizing recitation of the verses of the Holy Quran by Al Amin Khan, a student from 28th batch of the department. Following the recitation, all of the respected guests took their seat on the stage and they were welcomed with flower bouquets by the volunteers from 28th batch.
The formal part of the event began with the welcome speech from The BBA director Professor Shabnaz Amin. She wished the students luck and inspired them for the upcoming thrilling years. Following the speech, a video was shown to the new comers to let them know more about the delightful experiences they are going to have in their upcoming BBA Journey.
Afterwards, the chief guest of the program, honorable dean of FBS, Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Moyeen came with his speech. At the beginning. he congratulated all of the freshers for being a student of the Department of Finance. Then he gave some advises and guidance regarding maintaining discipline and punctuality in life toward the freshers. In his speech, he articulated the significance of maintaining a good result and good accompany in the university life. He concluded his valuable speech by wishing them best of luck.
After that, the distinguished guest, Mr. M Sabbir Hossain, DMD & COO of BRAC Bank Ltd gave his speech. In his speech he reminded all of the students about the discipline and required skills that are essential in both student life and professional life. He reminded the students about the contribution, that the state is providing to the students of this university. In the conclusion of his valuable speech, he told the students about the importance of continuous learning process.
The guest of honor, Akteruddin Mahmood, Head of HR, BRAC Bank Ltd told 2 inspiring stories about hard work and struggle that motivated all of the students present there. He also articulated about the importance of decision making and increasing productivity. In conclusion, he told the students about listening to the heart and chasing as well as fulfilling their dream.
Then- two of the freshers – Abdullah Ibn Rayhan and Umama Binte Habib from 29th batch were called on stage to share their feelings after getting admission offer with the guests. Abdullah expressed his wonderful feelings after getting admission there. He also requested his mates to maintain a good relationship and work hard to make the department proud. Umama expressed her gratitude to the almighty and thanked her parents for her success. She congratulated all of her friends and expressed about the struggle behind this success and thanked the faculties for being supportive to her.
The honorable chairman of the department, Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury thanked all guests for their valuable speeches. Then he gave some valuable advices to the freshers regarding the undergraduate life. Later in his speech he introduced the amazing faculties to the students and concluded the first session of the program.
During the second session of the program, Dr. Tazrina Farah and Md. Mukhlesur Rahman, Associate Professors and Student Advisors of the department, explained the rules and regulations through a slideshow presentation to the new comers.
Here comes the end of second session, but before the ending, there was a cultural session where a student from 28th batch sang a modern song. Another student from 28th batch sang a Rabindra sangeet. Later a student from 27th batch sang a Nazrul sangeet. And at the end of the program, a fresher from 29th batch sang a song of Kishore Kumar.
The hosts' closing remarks brought the event to a close, wishing the newcomers the best of luck on their four-year journey.
