The Department of Finance at the University of Dhaka held a vibrant orientation ceremony to welcome its 30th batch of undergraduate students. The event took place at the Professor Dr. Abdullah Farouk multi-purpose hall, where 150 new students were greeted with words of wisdom, inspiration, and encouragement from distinguished faculty and alumni.
The event opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran by the department’s Chairman, Professor Dr. H. M. Mosarof Hossain, followed by a visually captivating video showcasing the department's illustrious history. The video highlighted not just academic success, but the department’s active role in extracurriculars, business competitions, and social contributions, including recent flood relief efforts.
Among the notable attendees were MD. Rabiul Islam, Managing Director and CEO of NRBC Bank, and Mohammad Ali, Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank, both of whom shared insightful reflections on their journey as Finance alumni. The highlight was their inspirational advice to the incoming students, focusing on professional and personal growth. Then- two of the freshers from 30th batch were called on stage to share their feelings after getting admission offer with the guests.
The event also featured speeches from department leaders, including Prof. Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, and Prof. Dr. M. Sadiqul Islam, Chairman of Social Islami Bank, who gave guidance on navigating the academic journey. The director of the BBA program, Associate Professor Miss Nusrat Khan thanked all guests for their valuable speeches. Then she gave some valuable advices to the freshers regarding the undergraduate life.
The ceremony concluded with a briefing on academic requirements by Student Counsellors Ms. Pallabi Siddiqua, Md. Mukhlesur Rahman, and Hussain Ahmed Enamul Huda who assured students of the department’s support.
The ceremony marked the beginning of an exciting chapter for the new students, with the department welcoming them into what is fondly referred to as the "Finance family."
