28 December, 2024: On 28 December, 2024, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of University of Dhaka organized a memorable picnic at the scenic Dera Resort and Spa, located in Manikganj. This day-long event was attended by nearly 300 participants, including faculty members, alumni, students, and administrative staff. The picnic was a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, filled with engaging activities and delightful moments.

To ensure convenience, six buses and a coaster were arranged for all attendees. The group departed from the department premises at 9:00 AM,  and arrived at Dera Resort and Spa at approximately 11:00 AM. To provide comfort and convenience, eight rooms were allocated for the attendees to use throughout the day.

The resort’s range of activities provided entertainment and excitement for participants of all interests. Many attendees headed straight to the wave pool and swimming pool, where they enjoyed splashing around, floating, and relaxing in the refreshing waters. Others chose to explore the beautiful resort grounds on bicycles, taking in the lush greenery and tranquil surroundings.

For those who preferred water sports, the kayaking section was a serene retreat. Participants paddled through calm waters, soaking in the peaceful ambiance and engaging in friendly races. Meanwhile, thrill-seekers gravitated toward the zipline, which became one of the most popular attractions of the day.

At 1:00 PM, a delectable lunch was served, featuring a variety of dishes that catered to different tastes and preferences. The well-curated menu provided something for everyone, ensuring that all attendees enjoyed a hearty meal. In the afternoon, snacks and refreshments were distributed to keep energy levels high as the day’s fun continued.

At 5:00 PM, a delightful cultural ceremony added a touch of celebration to the day. The program featured captivating performances, including music and dance that showcased the diverse talents of the attendees.

One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the day was the raffle draw. Excitement filled the air as names were drawn and lucky winners were announced. The highlight of the draw was the grand prize—a premium mechanical keyboard—which was met with enthusiastic applause and cheers.

As the sun began to set, it was time to bid farewell to Dera Resort and Spa. Participants began boarding their buses and coaster at 6:30 PM, reminiscing about the day’s memorable moments. The return trip to Dhaka was filled with shared laughter, stories, and reflections on the joyous experiences. The department picnic at Dera Resort and Spa was a tremendous success. It fostered relaxation, strengthened bonds, and created lasting memories for all involved.
